Cousin Kacey Dyer just sent Lucy a great present- but, as you can tell, Lucy seems to love the packaging and the "peanuts" the most. She also loves when mommy drives her around the house in this box and screams around the turns. Mommy, however, didn't realize how quickly that tires you out.

Massachusetts trip October 2007
We had a great time visiting with Grandma, Eloise, Auntie Amy, Uncle Loulou,Uncle Dave, Marcy, and the puppy dogs. Lucy loved seeing everyone and especially loved playing with pine cones and at the beach!
And we visited with Andrew, Elizabeth and their son Will. Will and Lucy had fun playing Grandma's autoharp. Once a teacher, always a teacher.
And we celebrated Eloise's birthday- she's 2!!

Colorado
We went to Aspen, Colorado for Trey and Jen's wedding. Grandma came with us to enjoy the trip and hang out with Lucy while Heather and Gray did wedding "stuff". We loved Aspen, the scenery and wedding were beautiful, and we can't wait to go back. We hiked at the Maroon Bells in the rain (but still beautiful!) and Lucy got to take a little nap on daddy's back.

Apple Picking!
We had a wonderful time apple "picking" with Leslie, Cory, and Cade Peters in early October. Unfortunately, there were no apples on the trees in the NC mountains this year, so we had to make do with picking the bag of apples we wanted to buy after walking through the orchard.
Thanks for taking this picture, Leslie!

Lucy's 1st Birthday
A lot has happened since we last updated the blog. At the end of July Lucy started walking. As you can see in the video she's getting rather proficient. Now she's able to duck and evade Daisy's licks.
For her 1st birthday, we gathered at Nana and Papa's house with Lucy's Great Papa, Peter, Kim, Will and Hannah. Mommy provided a homemade carrot cake. It was so good Lucy's lucky she got first shot at it, because the rest of us ate it up!
Check out her new rocking horse which Papa made by hand!

Summer
Sorry for the few weeks of blog silence. Here are some photos we hope you'll enjoy. Cousin Eloise was just here for a visit. Papa celebrated a big birthday on the 4th of July on Topsail Island!
Lucy is walking with minimal help from us or a chair or a dog. She's taken a couple of steps on her own, but hasn't tried to string more than 2 together into a strut before dropping back to her trusty crawl.
Still no teeth!

Scooting... Crawling... Pulling up... Soon to be walking!
Lucy is going through all of these stages so quickly, it's hard to keep up. I have great video of her crawling, but she'll be walking before I figure out how to post it. So, in the meantime I'll let you know that she is now crawling everywhere- beware leaving her in a room on her own. She also pulls up on anything she can reach. Her favorite things in reach are the laundry basket (which she also enjoys emptying) and her toy chest from her best buddy, Kjell. -By the way, she was smiling before I took this picture.-

Enjoying an early spring!
Tuesday, February 27th was a beautiful day in Charlotte. Lucy decided to spend some time on the porch practicing her acting moves. She's developing quite a dramatic personality. If there are any talent scouts out there, she is demonstrating: the "southern faint," the "taunt," and the "how can you say no to this?" smile.
The other most important update in the life of Lucy is that her mom and dad have discovered that one of the most predictable ways to get her to giggle is to give her a big snore, a la Big Bird, that all of us born in the 70's will remember.
